
On the afternoon of October 20, 2025, Vice President Li Guoxiu met with a delegation led by Professor Karl David Dearn, Head of the School of Engineering at the University of Birmingham, at Siyuan Building.

During the talks, both sides reviewed the fruitful outcomes achieved since the establishment of their partnership in 2012, including student joint training programs and collaborative platforms such as the "China-UK High-Speed Railway Research Center." Vice President Li Guoxiu expressed that the University of Birmingham is a key strategic partner of BJTU and looked forward to further expanding cooperation in student cultivation and scientific research innovation.

Professor Karl David Dearn thanked BJTU for the warm reception and introduced the latest developments and disciplinary strengths of the School of Engineering. He expressed hope to deepen exchanges in key areas such as automation, electrical engineering, computer science, intelligent construction, and mechanical engineering, thereby promoting sustained and substantive development of the bilateral partnership.
During their visit, the delegation toured BJTU’s University History Museum and related laboratories, gaining in-depth understanding of the university’s achievements in research platform construction and talent cultivation.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the School of Automation and Intelligence, School of Computer and Information Technology, School of Civil Engineering, School of Mechanical, Electronic and Control Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, and the Office of International Affairs.
