Chinese Vice Premier LIU Yandong Attended Inauguration Ceremony for the Establishment of China-Russia High-speed Railway Research Center between BJTU and Russian Universities

On July 3, 2016, the Inauguration Ceremony for the Establishment of China-Russia High-speed Railway Research Center by Beijing Jiaotong University, St. Petersburg State Transport University and Moscow State University of Railway Engineering as well as the Roundtable Conference on China-Russia High-speed Railway Development was kicked off in St. Petersburg, Russia. The Center aims to build it into a base for world-leading high-speed railway technological research and talent cultivation, which provides intellectual support for the development of high-speed railway in China and Russia. Chinese Vice Premier LIU Yandong attended and addressed the ceremony.

Vice Premier LIU Yandong spoke highly of the practical cooperation carried out between China and Russia. The establishment of the China-Russia High-speed Railway Research Center is the implementation of consensuses reached between the two state leaders. The Center would focus on talent cultivation and joint research which provides strong technological and intellectual support for the construction of Silk Road Economic Belt and Eurasia Economic Alliance.

Vice Premier LIU Yandong, HAO Ping, Deputy Minister of Education, Michuk Igori Vladimirovich, Deputy Administrator of the Russian Railways, BJTU President NING Bin and Alexander Y. Panychev, Rector of St. Petersburg State Transport University jointly inaugurated for the China-Russia High-speed Railway Research Center.

NING Bin addressed the inauguration ceremony on behalf of BJTU. He introduced BJTU’s active participation in China’s “Belt and Road” Initiatives and “Going Global” of high-speed railway. He spoke highly of the cooperation on high-speed railway between BJTU and Russian universities. He hoped that both sides would comprehensively promote the exchanges and cooperation on railway supported by the China-Russia High-speed Railway Research Center to make contributions to thee social and economic development of the two countries and even the whole region.

Before the inauguration ceremony, accompanied by President NING Bin and Rector Alexander Y. Panychev, LIU Yandong visited the Excellent Achievement Exhibition on Cooperation between Chinese and Russian Transport Universities as well as the laboratories of China-Russia High-speed Railway Research Center. LIU encouraged both universities to join hands to conduct win-win cooperation, make complementary advantages and give full play to each advantages on basic and frontier problem researches in order to practically serve the high-speed railway cooperation between China and Russia.     

This event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Education of China and Ministry of Transport of Russia. The event was chaired by Rector Alexander Y. Panychev. LI Hui, Chinese Ambassador to Russia, CHANG JIANG Xiaojuan, Deputy Secretary of State Council, WANG Chao, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, HAO Ping, Deputy Minister of Education, YU Weiping, Deputy Minister of Finance, GUO Min, Council General in St. Petersburg, Russia, Russian Ambassador to China and First Deputy Minister of Education and Science were present at the event.
