GAO Liang Leads University Delegation to Visit Hong Kong and Macao, China

From April 14 to April 18 , 2026, GAO Liang, Vice President of Beijing Jiaotong University, led the university delegation to visit Hong Kong and Macao, China. He attended Beijing-Hong Kong Universities Alliance Council Annual Meeting and Presidents' Forum 2025-26, and reached broad consensus with university leaders from City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and City University of Macao on deepening bilateral exchanges, collaborative talent cultivation and expanding scientific and technological cooperation. The delegation also visited Mass Transit Railway (MTR), and Hong Kong and Macao branch companies of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation. They exchanged in-depth views on carrying out excellent engineer cultivation, promoting cooperation in programs and strengthening university-enterprise integration. The visit strengthened the ties with universities and enterprises in Hong Kong and Macao, elevated university influence in those regions and made positive achievements in a range of sectors.

 

At Beijing-Hong Kong Universities Alliance Council Annual Meeting and Presidents' Forum 2025-26, GAO Liang delivered a keynote speech titled “Focusing on the Beijing-Hong Kong Talent Cultivation Practices and Empowering High-Quality Railway Transport Development”. He systematically introduced Beijing Jiaotong University's cooperative achievements and future plans with entities in Hong Kong. His remarks were highly recognized by the representatives attending the Forum, which further enhanced the university influence in the Beijing-Hong Kong Universities Alliance.

 

During the annual meeting, GAO Liang participated in a series of events with Prof. Alexander Wai, President of Hong Kong Baptist University, and Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, focusing on inter-university cooperation and talent recruitment.

While the delegation was in City University of Hong Kong, Vice President LU Chun held talks with BJTU delegation, and both sides exchanged in-depth opinions on deepening bilateral exchanges, and expanding collaborative fields in terms of talent cultivation. Following the meeting, the two parties signed 3+1+X collaborative cultivation agreement,covering electronics, computer science, and electrical, and expanding to more fields such as economics and management, mechanical engineering, system, and mathematics and statistics. Both parties conducted a fruitful exploration on topics such as reciprocal faculty visits, and scientific collaborations having laid a sound foundation for the next-step all-round and multi-tier profound cooperation. 

At City University of Macao, President LIU Jun met with BJTU delegation. They explored the potential of collaboration in reciprocal faculty appointments, collaborative student cultivation, scientific cooperation and signed student exchange agreement to help institutionalize and normalize bilateral cooperation.


At the Hong Kong and Macao Branch Companies of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, YANG Song, Vice General Manager, and Executive Director, held a session with the delegation. Both sides reached broad consensus on promoting cooperation in light rail transit projects, university-enterprise research collaboration, talent cultivation, professional technical training, establishing internship and practice bases, and graduate employment.

 

When visiting Mass Transit Railway (MTR) in Hong Kong, Ms. Margaret Cheng Wai-ching, JP, Executive Committee member, Director of Human Resources Department, held a discussion with university delegation on the collaborative cultivation of excellent engineers, professional training, scientific research cooperation, and student internship and practice.

Representatives from School of Electronic& Information Engineering, School of Transport& Transportations, School of Civil Engineering, and Office of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs also participated in the relevant activities.
