President of Universiti Malaya Visits BJTU

March 1st, 2024, President YU Zujun met with the visiting delegation led by Noor Azuan Abu Osman, President of Universiti Malaya and Ramesh Singh Kuldip Singh, Vice President of Universiti Malaya at Siyuan Building. Vice President GUAN Zhongliang also attended the meeting.

 

YU Zujun extended a warm welcome to the delegation and presented background information on BJTU regarding its historical development, strength disciplines, international engagement, as well as its contribution to the "Belt and Road" initiative and the national railway sector. He pointed out that Malaysia is a crucial transportation hub connecting the Orient and the Occident, as well as the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It is expected that both sides would give full play to their disciplinary characteristics and advantages to develop cooperation in student mobility, double degree programs, faculty exchange, joint research, technical training for railway professionals and other programs with the support of the Chinese and the Malaysian government.

 

Prof. Osman expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and briefly introduced Universiti Malaya’s information regarding faculties and students, discipline setting, school-enterprise cooperation, social services and internationalization development. He encourages the two universities to strengthen their cooperation in joint education, faculty exchange and collaborative research. On the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, Prof. Osman also invited teachers and students to visit Universiti Malaya.

The officials from School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education and the Office of International Affairs also attended the meeting.
