On May 17th, 2023, Vice President Jing Tao met with Zhao Yongping, President of the Brazilian Beijing Cultural Exchange Association.

Jing Tao extended warm welcome to President Zhao and gave a brief introduction to the history, discipline construction, talent cultivation and international exchanges. He expressed the gratitude for the association for its strong support for the development of the Confucius Institute at the University of Campinas in Brazil, hoping that in the future, the two sides would actively communicate and cooperate to promote multi-directional and in-depth practical cooperation between BJTU and universities, enterprises, and social institutions of Brazil, to build a bridge and contribute to the education, scientific research, and cultural exchanges between China and Brazil.

President Zhao expressed her gratitude for the warm reception. She highly affirmed the development achievements of the Brazilian Confucius Institute of BJTU, and highly praised BJTU’s emphasis of international development. She pointed out that next year is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil. This visit provided an opportunity for BJTU and association to jointly explore the possibility of future development on the existing basis. It is hoped that BJTU and the association will continue to be in close contact with each other relying on the platform of the Confucius Institute, show the advantages, draw the prospects together, and pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil, to promote the continuous and steady progress of non-governmental friendship between the two countries.

Director (Chinese side) of the Confucius Institute at the University of Campinas in Brazil and the relevant responsible personnel of the Office of International Affairs attended the meeting.
