On 11th May, 2014, President NING Bin met with the delegation led by Professor Roderick A. Smith, Chief Scientific Advisor to The UK Department of Transport.

NING Bin introduced the history and development of BJTU, highlighted teachers and alumni’s participation in China’s high speed railway construction. He welcomed Professor Smith to give lectures and carry out joint research, to promote the academic exchange between BJTU and UK universities and to provide advice on China’s HSR construction.

Smith said in recent years, the rapid development in China, especially the development of HSR was impressive. He shared his own understanding about possible problems and solutions on China’s HSR development, and expected to establish profound cooperation with scholars of BJTU.

Before the meeting, the delegation came to School of Mechanical Engineering to give a lecture on history and development of UK’s railway.
