On the afternoon of May 16th, 2019, H.E. Mr. Teshome Toga Chanaka, Ethiopian Ambassador to China, attended the “Belt and Road” Ambassador Forum held in the Science Hall of BJTU. Before the forum, BJTU President WANG Jiaqiong met with him and Ms. SUN Chao, Vice President of DRTT.
WANG Jiaqiong extended warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the history, strength discipline, “double first-class initiative” and service for national rail transit industry. He pointed out that Ethiopia is an important country along the “Belt and Road”. He hoped that both sides would further enhance cooperation in the framework of “Belt and Road” and promote practical cooperation in terms of student cultivation, training for engineering technical and management staff as well as university-enterprise collaborations.
H.E. Mr. Teshome Toga Chanaka expressed gratitude to BJTU for the hospitality and introduced the bilateral cooperation between the two countries as well as the difficulties met in the regard. He spoke highly of the great achievements China has made over the past 40 years. He also spoke highly of the contributions BJTU has made in terms of talent cultivation, scientific research as well as service for national rail transit industry. He hoped that both sides would achieve more cooperative results in the framework of the “Belt and Road” Initiative in the future.
H.E. Mr. Teshome Toga Chanaka addressed in the forum that China shares a long history of friendship with Africa. The “Belt and Road” Initiative and China-Africa Cooperation Forum have provided guidance mechanism for the China-Africa cooperation. Also, China-Ethiopia cooperation has become the model in terms of railway and infrastructure cooperation.
The teachers and students from the School of Languages and Communication Studies and the 1st International Organizations Training Camp have attended the Forum. Media from China Daily and Beijing Youth Daily have also covered this activity.
