On the morning of April 21th, 2014, President NING Bin met with the five-member visiting group from University of Waterloo (UoW), Canada led by President Feridun Hamdullahpur at meeting room 701 of Siyuan Building.
President NING Bin extended warm welcome to the guests on behalf of BJTU and made a brief introduction about the university in terms of history, disciplines, international exchanges, etc. President NING Bin mentioned that since 2008, when BJTU and University of Waterloo started the undergraduate 2+2 cooperation, both parties had made great achievements in talents cultivation, teacher exchange and research cooperation. As a result, the two universities launched a Chinese-foreign running school program of Nanomaterials and Technology for undergraduates, which was carried out smoothly and received praises from both parties. He expected a further cooperation in more domains between the two universities.
President Feridun Hamdullahpur expressed his gratitude for hospitality of BJTU and briefed the engineering and physical education of UoW. He pointed out that BJTU is a most important partner with University of Waterloo, both the undergraduate 2+2 program and the running school program of Nanomaterials and Technology are good examples of the cooperation between the two universities. He also gave high priority to the previous cooperation between the two parties, expecting more fruits from cooperation in the future.
After the meeting, Mr. Feridun Hamdullahpu and the delegation met with students from the Nanomaterial and Technology Program.
Mr. Nello Angerilli, Vice President of University of Waterloo, Mr. Terry McMahon, Dean of School of Science, Mr. LIN Shoufa, Vice Dean of School of Science, Ms. ZHAO Suping from International Office of UoW; Prof. LIU Jun, Vice President of BJTU, Prof. XU Yugong, Assistant President, and directors from School of Science, School of Economics and Management, and Office of International Cooperation and Exchange also attended the meeting.
