On the evening of 27th March 2014, the original play, MAO YISHENG is staged.

A panorama of Dr. MAO Yisheng’s glorious life has been fully revealed in the play. He was determined to devote himself to the construction of the motherland and became the most well-known bridge expert. Meanwhile, he was known as a master who made contributions to cultivating next generation engineers and technical talents for China. The play highlights the touching story that Dr. MAO Yisheng destroyed with his own hands the spectacular Qiantang River Bridge for the sake of national security and patriotism. The Qiantang River Bridge was the very first modern railway-highway combined bridge in China, which was designed and established by Dr. MAO.

Mr. CAO Guoyong, Chairman of University Council delivered a speech before the performance to speak highly of Dr. MAO Yisheng for his great contributions in terms of education, science and technology and social activities. CAO also gave his heartfelt thanks to the teachers and students for their participation and creation of the play. CAO said the spiritual treasure given by Dr. MAO Yisheng is an important part of Beijing Jiaotong University spirit with more than 100 years. His educational concept is the essence of the motto of BJTU “to Learn and to Practice” and Dr. MAO’s statue is a landmark of the campus.

President NING Bin expressed his appreciation for the hard work of the cast and encouraged students to inherit the spirit of the older generation to study hard and serve the country.
