In the afternoon of September 16, 2013, Vice President Prof. LIU Jun met with the Vice Chancellor Prof. Elsiddig A.E. Elsheikh from University of Khartoum.Elsiddig A.E. Elsheikh from University of Khartoum. 

Vice President Prof.LIU Jun extended his warm welcome to the guests and conveyed President Prof. NING Bin’s regards to them. Prof. LIU made a brief introduction about Beijing Jiaotong University in terms of history, disciplines, talents cultivation, research and internationalization. Prof. LIU mentioned that the friendship between China and Africa is long-standing and both sides have a fine tradition of cooperation. In the 1960s, BJTU trained a large amount of talents for Tanzania and Zambia specialized in railway construction and management. Nowadays, BJTU attaches great importance to the cooperation with higher institutions from African countries. He hoped that both universities could strengthen communication and implement cooperation in areas such as staff training, postgraduate cultivation, teacher exchange, course study and cultural visit for students. 

Vice Chancellor Prof. Elsiddig A.E. Elsheikh from University of Khartoum expressed his appreciation for receiving him and briefed University of Khartoum to Prof. LIU. He fully agreed with Prof. LIU’s suggestions and hoped that the cooperation between the two universities will be implemented soon.

Ms. LIU Yanqing, Director of Center for International Education and Dr. DENG Xinhua, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange presented at the meeting.

BJTU signed an cooperation agreement with University of Khartoum in 2007. Associate Prof. TONG Xiaofeng taught Chinese language in University of Khartoum from 2005-2009.
