National Engineering Laboratory on Interconnection Technology for Next Generation Internet

National Engineering Laboratory on Interconnection Technology for Next Generation Internet (Called NEL for short) aims at cutting edge research in the field of Next Generation Internet, and promoting the application of significant research results. Founded by many projects granted by MOST of China and NSFC, NEL has developed the first IPv6 router, the first IPv6 wireless/mobile router, and the first IPv6 Micro Sensor Router in China. In 2006, NEL has proposed the first future Internet architecture in China, called Identifier-based Universal Network Architecture that has been deployed in many research institutes and companies in China. NEL owns more than 50 patents, 20 software copyright patents, has published more than ten books and many papers in prestigious journals (such as IEEE Transactions series) and international conferences, and has submitted dozens of international standard drafts.

Prof. Hongke Zhang directs NEL, which has about 20 faculty members including five professors, five associate professors, and nearly 200 Ph.D. and master students.

NEL welcomes the academic exchange and interaction with other domestic and overseas experts and scholars. It has received the funding for university plan and has brought in more than 10 experts and scholars from abroad through “111 talent Project”.
