This course is intended to discuss the fundamentals of switching and networking, including the network performance analysis, the circuit switching network, the control mechanisms in circuit switching, the packet switching network, the high-speed packet switching, the reliability design. This course aims at provide the students the design principles of networks with circuit switching, packet switching and ATM switching, the mathematical modeling and analysis methodologies and physical level understanding of network performance, the network planning, designing, and administration approaches.
