This course will be lectured in English using Fundamentals of Materials Science and Engineering, 5th Edition, edited by W.D. Callister, Jr,. This course presents the basic fundamentals of materials science and engineering (MSE) on a level appropriate for international undergraduates in Beijing Jiaotong University. The purpose of this course is to give a comprehensive introduction of materials science and engineering while strengthening the students’ interest in this field and to lay foundation for their future professional learning. After finishing this course, students should understand the basic concepts of MSE, know how to select materials according to engineering requirements, be able to communicate with each other and ask questions in English, and also grasp the writing and presentation skills for their future career.
